Women's Study: The Gospel According to Starbucks  @ 9:00 a.m.

Author Leonard Sweet, thinks that the church should take cues from an institution that isn't suffering a lack of customers: Starbucks. Starbucks understands that people hunger for "authentic experience." Just as people like to drink coffee together, people seek community and connection in religious settings. Christianity must find ways of showing people that it can offer "symbols and meaningful engagement."

Women's Study Group @ 6:30 p.m.

Currently this group is studying If You Want to Walk on Water, You’ve Got to Get Out of the Boat.  You're one step away from the adventure of your life. Deep within you lies the same faith and longing that sent Peter walking across the wind-swept Sea of Galilee toward Jesus. In what ways is the Lord telling you, as he did Peter, "Come"? John Ortberg invites you to consider the incredible potential that awaits you outside your comfort zone. Out on the risky waters of faith, Jesus is waiting to meet you in ways that will change you forever, deepening your character and your trust in God. The experience is terrifying. It's thrilling beyond belief. It's everything you'd expect of someone worthy to be called Lord. The choice is yours to know him as only a water-walker can, aligning yourself with God's purpose for your life in the process. There's just one requirement: If You Want to Walk on Water, You've Got to Get Out of the Boat.

Book Club: Meets the second Monday of each month.

In May and June the Book Club will discuss The Cost of Discipleship by Dietrich Bonhoeffer.  What can the call to discipleship, the adherence to the Word of Jesus, mean today to the businessman, the soldier, the laborer, or the aristocrat? What did Jesus mean to say to us? What is his will for us today? Drawing on the Sermon on the Mount, Dietrich Bonhoeffer answers these timeless questions by comparing "cheap grace" and "costly grace." "Cheap grace,” Bonhoeffer writes, "is the grace we bestow on ourselves...grace without discipleship....Costly grace is the Gospel which must be sought again and again.  It is costly because it costs a man his life, and it is grace because it gives a man the only true life."  These books are available at the Connection Point for $10.50.

Wednesday

Beth Moore Study - Beginning Wednesday, June 4th at 9:30

The Beth Moore Study A Woman’s Heart: God’s Dwelling Place will be offered.  Taken primarily from the book of Exodus, explore the construction of the Old Testament tabernacle, its role in God’s eternal plan, and how it applies to the lives of women today.  Register by contacting Diana in the church office or dfaust@standrewsomaha.net.

New Study of Psalms: Join this study group on Wednesday evenings from 6 – 7 p.m. beginning March 26th as they explore how Psalms records the experiences of God’s people, who try to make sense of who God is—in relation to who they are.  This study offers greater understanding of how the Psalms’ moving testimonies of grace, glory, sorrow, and beauty can still speak to us today.  Please contact Diana to register for this class at dfaust@standrewsomaha.net.

Traveling the Prayer Paths of Jesus: This study begins February 13 at 6:00 p.m. in the Prayer Room. Author, John Indermark, helps us walk the prayer paths of Jesus and gain insights into his prayer life.  Readers see with a fresh clarity that Jesus prayed at all times and in all places. Helping us to move beyond these times and places, Indermark invites us to follow the example of Jesus and learn deeper ways to connect with God.  The cost of the book is $14.00.

Stepping Up: A Journey Through the Psalms of Ascent will begin on June 4th, at 7 p.m. This study focuses on Psalms 120-134 which were spoken by God’s people in the Old Testament during specific events.  These Psalms hold great significance in revealing more about God and a personal relationship with Him. This study will be held at Deb Richey’s home.  Call her at 650-5851 for directions.
